Everyday Life During A Pandemic
It may be hard to comprehend but should a pandemic strike it will affect every aspect of normal, everyday life from hospitals to schools to grocery stores to churches. Normal will cease to exist. Every single thing will be disrupted. There won’t be an aspect of life that won’t be disrupted and disruption will be the mildest symptoms society wise.During A Pandemic
Now that we understand what we’re facing with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we need to start to understand how to deal with a pandemic like it and how it is and will continue to affect every aspect of our daily lives.
During a pandemic up to 30% of the world population will be sick at any one time and that includes doctors and other medical personnel. That means hospitals will be overwhelmed and understaffed. Schools will close and students will be forced to stay home. Public transportation could be severely slowed or even stopped. Food and other products will not be delivered, leaving store shelves bare. To get through it, everyone will need to prepare. You need to think ahead.
What To Plan For
With COVID-19 making its impact on the US, we have already seen school closures across the country and hospitals in other parts of the world, like Italy for example, have already faced the crisis of hospitals being overflowed with Coronavirus patients. During times like these you need to have a backup plan. Consider these things when coming up with your plan: What are you going to do with your children if you still have to work and are unable to work from home? What groceries and supplies will you need to have on hand at home? Think of your family routine and the ways it will be affected.
Business Culture During A Pandemic
The American business culture is based on doing whatever it takes including going to work when you’re ill. However, during a pandemic, business owners, managers, and professionals will need to put their health and the health of their employees first. When facing a pandemic we need to do our best to change the culture of going in to work while sick. One way to help stop the rapid spread of the Coronavirus is to distance yourself from big groups and stay home especially if you are sick. With this in mind, make sure to make a plan for working from home. Do you have all of the materials and resources you’ll need? Is your company prepared with a communication plan to ensure all goes smoothly?
In the end, basic planning, preparation, and common sense could be the difference between life and death for millions during a pandemic. If you haven’t started planning for the impact of COVID-19, now is the time to start.
